Tirta Empul Temple

Tirta Empul is a prominent temple complex and holy mountain spring, located in the village of Manukaya, in the district of Tampaksiring, Gianyar regency, in central Bali. The site serves as a legendary setting for a traditional tale of good versus evil and is a national cultural heritage site.

The Tirta Empul Temple Complex, built circa 960 AD, is also a silent witness of the old Balinese kingdom years, particularly at the time of the Warmadewa Dynasty. Another nearby and prominent site on top of a hill beside the complex is the presidential palace, Istana Tampaksiring, built during the years of the nation’s first president, Soekarno.

Tirta Empul, meaning ‘holy water spring’ is actually the name of the water source that is located within the temple. The spring feeds adjoining purification baths, pools and fish ponds surrounding the outer complex which all flow to the Tukad Pakerisan River. It is along this river, and various sites throughout the region, that many other archaeological relics entwined in local myths and legends can be found.

Watukaru Temple

Luhur Watukaru temple or Pura Batukaru is one of the biggest Hindu Temples in Bali (Sad Kahyangan) with Catur Lokapala Temple and Padmabhuwana Temple status. Location

Elephant Cave Temple

Welcome to Gua Gajah (Elephant Cave) which is located in west side of Bedulu countryside, Blah Batuh Sub district and Gianyar Regency. It is about 27 km from Denpasar town. This cave is built at crevasse edge from the federation of 2 rills that is called Pangkung River , where the irrigation is mixed with Petanu River flow. The federation area of two rivers is called Campuhan/Mixture. It owns the magical energy on the basis of Rwabineda Concept/two different matters on this basic concept hence Gua Gajah (Elephant Cave) is intentionally built among two rivers.

Gua Gajah in Story 

The word of Gua Gajah is anticipated coming from the word of Lwa Gajah, the name of Buddhist Temple or hermitage for Buddhist monk. The Gua Gajah's name is written on Negarakeertagama papyrus which is compiled by Mpu Prapanca on 1365 M. There is a relief which is almost looking like the form of mountain on the entrance of this cave. The cave mouth is decorated by the bas-relief with the eye turn around to the right or west side. There is an article letter of Kediri type from the early of 11 century was written on the wall left side or east side. There is a pool (Patirthaan) as a place to take the holy Tirtha water for Hindu ceremony which is located in the middle of the cave courtyard. This Holy Pool is previously piled up by land and it has been found on 1954 by Krijgsman from the Ancient Department. The Holy pool is equipped by the statue douche which is parallel arranged in two groups.

Uluwatu Temple

Uluwatu Temple is one of Sad Kahyangan in Bali (six big group of Bali Temple ), located in Pecatu Village region, Subdistrict of South Kuta, Badung Regency, about 25 Km southerly part of Denpasar town. In papyrus of Usana Bali mentioned that Mpu Kuturan (Saint teaching Hinduism in Bali) a lot of built the temple in Bali for example Uluwatu Temple. In papyrus Dwijendra Tatwa elaborated by that Mpu Kuturan twice pay a visit to this temple:

• Second visit done when Mpu Kuturan will reach the nature Moksa. OnTuesday of Kliwon Medangsya (Balinese Calendar) witnessed by a fisherman, his name Ki Pasek Nambangan, he looked to be like flash only in the form of very very bright light step into the space called ngeluwur.
